Rathdrum Castle and Farm
Why is it that the most difficult search is rewarded by the most disappointing result.
This is my third visit to this area and after many no’s from the local residents, one old lady remembered seeing a sculpture on the farm wall but as that position was built over by a porch about 25 years ago, the chance of seeing it in my lifetime is relatively poor.
The official records that I was using were misleading and it is obvious that they never visited the site but just supported what went before.

As mentioned above the sheela is not accessible to verify that it is in fact a sheela! Particularly as the old lady only remembers it as being a head and not a full body.
The ruined stump of the Castle is in the backyard and covered over by soil and grass, so no further progress there.
