Aghalurcher Church, Co. Fermanagh.
I have been to this picturesque little church and graveyard where the 18th
century headstones have sheela-like heads, coffins, sandtimers and crossed bones
on them. This morbid style was fashionable at that time.
However, the figure itself has been removed to the Enniskillen Museum.
Information just in on this Male acrobatic figure from Anthony Weir, it shows a feet to ears figure with no body and testicles merging with it’s beard. No penis is shown although the circular mouth may have accommodated one. Best described as a Romanesque penis-less male.
Unique in this part of the World.
